Give me tips for making a blog
I've decided to track my progress in a more formal manner for family and friends, and have decided to enter the forsaken world of the blog.
As someone who has long chastised the splurging of personal feelings and thoughts through such an impersonal manner (says the hypocrite posting on an internet forum), I have missed the boat on what makes a good blog, what sites are better than others, etc. Basically, any information to get me started, and then I can ask questions as I go. So, first, is there a site better than others? Thanks in advance, SC |

However, I will also be seeking investors down the road and imagine it would be quite easy to supply a link with my poker success, when my mass email goes out, rather than explain every tournament I have won, how much I have made, etc. I have no intentions of discussing how I enjoyed my breakfast, the crazy thing my dog did today, etc. Instead, I imagine it will read more like: 2/18 won Party Super Thursday for 28k. Perhaps a discussion of a few key hands, and thats it. I also imagine that this would help some of the relatives I have on the other coast, who here about my success, but don't have any day to day or even week to week updates. -SC |

Re: Give me tips for making a blog
You know, a lot of people are down on blogs these days because they add personal touches, but lets be honest...the financial prospectus of a company preparing for an IPO is not that exciting to most people. What you are describing sounds like that to me.
Anyway, a blog is not going to be attractive to everyone. My own personal one is pretty much poker related, but I write it for people who know me and as a personal release, gets out frustration and allows me to share some joy (even if no one reads it, it provides the same thing a diary would or whatever). I often talk about how I did during a day but I am just as likely to post a poker related rant (ie - my latest post was about how much I hate Phil Laak and his stupid style). Also, just a quick note about money amounts. A guy on here who posts on his blog as a pro player is vague with amounts, just incase the IRS comes looking. His official line is "incase I get the numbers wrong on the blog I don't want the tax guys thinking I cheated" so that may be something you want to think about |

Re: Give me tips for making a blog
I should say that I could really care less about what each individual thinks about blogs.
I am not asking anyone to read mine, only looking for tips on how to make them. The previous respondent was correct in his assumption that ultimately whatever I create will be used as a self-advertisment when I come calling for money. -SC |
