That's a really close one. I think at a SH table it is a push. If it were 10-handed, and you were MP1, I think it is a fold. But because you are seeing fewer hands a round, you need to open up just a bit, therefore it is a push. Ironically, fold here, let the blinds take you down a little more and KTs is a push from any position. But your stack is in that range....

Push 9xBB 7-handed. This is Stars with antes, not as big as a lot of live antes, but there is like 2 1/2 xBB is the pot. Have to play for it.

7 way, 9x, shortest stack, a hand that runs well even if called, and a chance for like 11k in blinds/antes. You don't need to take it down all that often for this to be profitable. Get it in there.

you are the short stack. i think this is a push. the pot is big before any action and your hand is decent (though if called you are behind, the chance you take this pot uncontested are worth it.)

what do you guys think if he had 66 there? This was almost the identical situation I was in (same level 3/6k with a 300 ante). I debated between pushing and just stealing, or making the 3x raise, hope someone comes over the top, because I might not get a better hand for a while. I elected for the raise, and someone came over the top, I called all in. 66 v. AQ.. In retrospect, it wouldn't have mattered, I think if I go all in, he calls anyway, but what does everyone think of this play?

Real easy push with 66 or 22 for that matter. You are ahead if you get called by AK or AQ.

To BK123:
I'd push. Your folding equity is going down the drain, you're the small stack, and I don't see "waiting for a better hand" or "trying to move up in pay" as +EV options here. Additionally UTG moves (unless you're been VERY aggressive) are usually seen as much harder to call than LP moves.

To MrBrightSide:
I think anything but pushing sucks, unless you HIGHLY specific reasons to believe a smaller raise will be interpreted as a super strong hand - by ALL opponents. Which probably never will be the case in low buy-in tournaments.

You have to maximize your folding equity, and you're ahead of all but higher pairs. PUSH!

Best,

McMelchior (Johan)

Thanks for the responses, I pushed and ran into JJ. I just did some EV calculations by hand with fairly tight calling ranges for the others (99-AA, AK-AQ) and the push came out to about +T3000. So I think it is a push but its close.
