James Sousa
I saw mention of this guy during the last WSOP Circuit episode when they showed last year's hand of his AQ sucking out on Batshon's AK.
Where has this guy gone? Has his crazy all in style caused him to be a huge loser? I remember Amarillo Slim, I think it was, saying this guy could take the poker world by storm. He was entertaining to say the least but I don't think he cashed once at the WSOP. Is he a cash games player? |

Re: James Sousa
it says here that he's cashed in two poker tournaments. the $5k wsop event he's famous for, and a $300 buyin tournament a few months later. i'm guessing he blew his wsop winnings on hookers and coke before he even got out of the horseshoe.

But isn't he the greatest poker player in the world according to Johnny Moss?

But isn't he the greatest poker player in the world according to Johnny Moss? Brad [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, I thought originally it was Slim, but it was Johnny Moss. I don't understand why they thought he was good. He was beyond reckless. |

Re: James Sousa
Nothing of quality to add here but that was by far the most entertaining final table in 2004 (to me anyway)

I don't understand why they thought he was good. He was beyond reckless. [/ QUOTE ] If I remember correctly, it was Sousa himself that recollected the story of Johnny Moss telling him at one time that he could be the best poker player in the world. Pretend you're at a home game, your friend brings over some idiot who loses a ton of money but constantly justifies his plays by saying how great he is. Are you going to disagree with him? Pro players want those guys returning to their games day in and day out. This is just an example of taking the "don't tap the glass" rule to the extreme. -Jihad |

Re: James Sousa
Didn't he say he'd been playing for like 20 years and had made like $250,000 in that time period?

Re: James Sousa
Me, paluka, and a few others played at foxwoods with him. He was drunk and bad at poker. I ended up playing in a v. tough 4-handed game while he drifted somewhere just in case he came back. . .
