Party 30/60: River call with 66.
Villain is typical for 30/60--a little too loose, neutral aggression. Stats are: 27/10/1.0 over 170 hands.

I don't like it, but I call.
You need to be good, what, about 1 in 10 here. You beat ace high, so yeah I call here. |

Re: Party 30/60: River call with 66.
does he have a better pair, a 5 or K 90% of the time? No, so I call. Lots of possible losers. I reckon you're good about 20-30% of the time here. (with the limited information availabe)

I would think your going to lose most of the time here, but the pot is so big I would call. If the pot was 5 or 6 big bets I would fold.

Re: Party 30/60: River call with 66.
Don't raise the turn, donk. Call the turn, call the river.
If you raised the river ( a non 5 ) I wouldn't hate it as you can fold to a 3 bet and he might look you up with ace high, a 5 or another pocket pair. I do'nt think he's ever folding 77-99 though but still it's not a bad play. Calling is usually best though. |

Re: Party 30/60: River call with 66.
by raising the turn, you lose a bet from a bluff that would have probably followed through on the river. i know you are concerned about letting hands outdraw you, but its simply more profitable to extract the extra bet against a 6 outer then it is to drive him out of the pot.
he may 3bet you on a bluff. you let him maximize value against you by him making the stop and go play with a king, or if he leads out when he catches his trips. this pretty much all assumes that you were intending to check the river down, but you may have been planning to bet your 6s for value expecting to see a 5. is that right? how many hands will villain coldcall a raise with out of the small blind with a 5? hes not very aggressive. he could easily have a larger pair. your river bet may have very thin value if that was your intention, but i dont feel that your line outweighs the cons illustrated above. |

Re: Party 30/60: River call with 66.
Cause on that board he's usually way ahead or way behind and raising just opens up a nasty can of worms. Look what you got yourself into. Seriously. You raised the turn and made the pot so big you felt it right to desperately call the river.
Otherwise the pot is small and like I said he's typically got a huge advantage over you like having a K, a mid pocket pair in which you want as little money going in the pot as possible, OR, he's got something like A9 he does have 6 outs and the pot is getting to the size where you're right, you probably want him to fold on the turn but you are totally ok with him continueing to bluff, and it's too iffy that he has a ahand like Q5s or something and has less outs and just let him continue to bet, you'll get the most in the long run. maybe I'm not making sense but this is a really easy one in my mind that I think a lot of people screw up. |
