Re: Just started off 400nl ... hand for critique
Im a weak-tight nit so i probably wouldn't even play that one preflop but fwiw the times i would, i think i'd play it exactly the same way. No real damage done there.

Any critique would need to see your logic behind the plays.

I fold river. Weird that 44 called that flop. I would expect to see KQ bet river like that too. I would expect a hand like 55 or 66 to bet turn had the not filled up

Re: Just started off 400nl ... hand for critique
raising preflop here is probably not your best bet, out of position with a marginal ace.
Once you are called on the flop you should be done with the hand. |

I don't play NL 400 so I may be off here but... isnt $28 (7x bb) rather high for a mediocore AJ oop..?

Re: Just started off 400nl ... hand for critique
aj oop is a trouble hand. i dont mind the play, but u have to be done after u fire on the flop. also, this is not play u should be making if u have a loose/agressive/donkey image. if u do ur flop bets get called by crap like 44. also, not to be employed when a telephone has limped. u dont make profit from telephones by blowing them off of hands.

Re: Just started off 400nl ... hand for critique
I do not like the raise preflop OOP. These raises get called way too often in 400NL, and I don't like playing too many raised pots with big offsuit cards, even if it's heads up. That being said, if you're going to raise, I'm glad you made it $28 rather than 16 or 20.
Nothing bad about the flop. I screw myself up sometimes by making that continuation bet too often. However, I think the main problem is that you put yourself in a tight spot with the PFR. I also probably fold the river. By the way, what guy said he wouldn't play this hand preflop? I can't fathom folding AJo in the SB in a 6-max NL game. |
