I call but I don't think most people here are a fan of that

Re: TT - Preflop Decision
I cap here, largely because many UTG TAGs who are that tight are capable of folding all but their best hands (AK and pocket pairs) to a cap here. I'm not actually saying that's correct from the TAG's perspective, but I see it often enough to justify a cap to get me playing HU with a LAG that I'm comfortable against.

Re: TT - Preflop Decision
I'll cap this more often than not. I think UTG's raise deserves a pretty good-sized range here 5-handed despite being UTG, and I think the somewhat LAGish CO does, too. I think our pre-flop equity is good / not bad, and I think it will be a hand that is a bit easier to play post-flop than others I might have here facing this decision. I think there is a not too unreasonable chance that UTG folds to a cap here; the downside is that it might be nice to see whether he caps or calls if I were to just call. I wouldn't fold this.
* Intermission * Just to be sure I wasn't smoking dope on the pre-flop equity bit, I did a quick run with Pokerstove and confirmed that I think we're in decent shape even with ranges that I think were conservative. |

Re: TT - Preflop Decision
So, um, I thought the question was a bit more interesting than everyone else seems to think it is. The 1/3 SB structure played a part here.
Who else caps? Calls? Folds? Rob |

Cap, folding TT is for wussies.

Re: TT - Preflop Decision
Capping. UTG could be raising anything from QJs & up, 3-bet could likely be 66-AA, A10-AKs. We are ahead of many of these hands. I also think it is very easy to get away from pocket 10's if a big flop hits.

Re: TT - Preflop Decision
Assuming UTG raises about 13% of his hands from that position (77+,A8s+,K9s+,QTs+,JTs,ATo+,KJo+,QJo) and CO who is pretty passive preflop 3bets about 6% ( 99+,AJs+,KQs,AQo+ )
our equity here lies at about 33%. It goes up to about 45% if we can fold out the TAG and with all the dead money it's worth it. But it's really tricky to play TT postflop, since if you're not drawing slim here already, there's a good chance an over will flop and you will have a tough time calling if you get raised. |
