Default JJ - Large Field

PokerStars 0.25/0.50 Hold'em (10 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is MP1 with J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
1 fold, UTG+1 calls, UTG+2 calls, Hero raises, MP2 3-bets, 2 folds, Button calls, 1 fold, BB calls, UTG+1 calls, UTG+2 calls, Hero caps, MP2 calls, Button calls, BB calls, UTG+1 calls, UTG+2 calls.

Flop: (24.40 SB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (6 players)
BB bets, UTG+1 calls, UTG+2 calls, Hero calls, MP2 raises, Button calls, BB calls, UTG+1 calls, UTG+2 calls, Hero calls.

First time it gets to me, I hate to raise against this large field. Even if I'm behind, I have the odds to call.

Turn: (18.20 BB) 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (6 players)
BB checks, UTG+1 checks, UTG+2 checks, Hero checks, MP2 checks, Button checks.

Wtf now? I guess MP2 had AK? What did the other raiser have? Do I bet, call or fold the river if a blank hits?

I'd raise the flop here. Your relative position is pretty bad to protect your hand on the flop or turn, so I'd give up that idea and just go for value.

I hate to raise against this large field.

You are the preflop capper. You made this a big pot. The other players would love to have your hand - a premium overpair hand. No one's folding this flop or turn with any sort of draw even for 2BB. So raise for value. Sure sometimes you'll lose to a 4 - but you can't just sit there and let them draw out on you. How are you going to feel on the river here when someone with Q7 spikes a queen and takes down your pot because you didn't knock him out when he was drawing thin. Or when you let someone draw to the wheel for free. When the pot gets big you have to fight for it.

Are you waiting to raise the turn? Going for a check/raise? Not betting when it was checked to you then was absolutely criminal!

There's a very good chance you have the best hand, you really need to get some value out of it.

Grunch

Raise the flop -- knock out some players with overs. Bet the turn.

The way you played it, definitely bet the river.

Raise the flop with your overpair after capping PF. You're behind a set, 2 pair (unlikely) A3, 36 (unlikely), AA, KK, and QQ.

On the flop, I would only be worried about BB and MP2.

BB probably does not have you beat with an overpair considering his PF action, and any of the other monsters I might check-raise post-flop if I'm him, so I put him on TP or a straight draw.

As for MP2, raising the flop will tell you a lot about his hand. A call indicates you probably have him beat. He may even fold overcards to 2 bets.

The flop raise would be for value and, more importantly, information.
