Default Vegas during NCAA tournament

I will be visiting Las Vegas from March 19-22 with a group of people who will be submerged in the NCAA tournament.
Does the tournament have any impact on the poker games such as game availability or number of casual players?

Yes. That weekend in particular the Bellagio and Mirage rooms will be filled to the max.

I am staying at the Monte Carlo. They only require that I play 5 hours per day to get the discount room rate. Beyond that I was hoping to play the $5-10 O/8 full kill game at the Mirage or the $10/20 HE game. Hopefully the waiting lists will not be too long.

believe this...5 hours in the monte carlo game, the only winner is the house...hard to beat the rake there....bellagios 4-8 game is better....

I don't let the rake concern me because I never win a hand.

That's just plain ignorant. The Bellagio has a $4 total rake with no jackpot. The Monte Carlo has a $4 total rake including the jackpot. You are getting a freeroll at the Monte Carlo. You pay the same rake but will occassionally get paid for hitting one of their high hand bonuses.

Regardless of the rake structure, the Monte Carlo game and almost any other 3-6/4-8 game on the Strip is beatable for at least 1.5 big bets per hour.

I just hope the TV's in there get MTV (or whatever hell channel they're moving the games to).

I'll be there from 3/26-31.

Planned events (in addition to NCAA watching) include Wednesday 7pm LHE tourney at Orleans. Friday noon O/8 tourney at Orleans. Saturday 7pm Stud/8 tourney at Orleans. Live play at Mirage, Bellagio, Orleans, MonteCarlo, Excalibur, etc.

I'll be around!

Go Illini! What a terrible draw they got...
