ITH vs GSIH
Please excuse me if this has been covered before, but is there a clear winner between the two (for a 1st book choice)?
Are there certain highlights for each (ie. charts in ITH)? Thanks |

Re: ITH vs GSIH
If I were recommending holdem books to people first beginning, I would start them with
1. GSIH 2. WLLHE 3rd Edition Once they have played a few months, then 3. SSHE Once they have played a few more months 4. TOP Later, if and when they decide they want to pursue limit holdem instead of NL/PL or Tourneys, they can read other limit books, such as: HPFAP Weighing the Odds Real Poker, Play of Hands How Good is Your Limit Holdem Middle Limit Holdem Internet Texas Holdem |

Thanks [/ QUOTE ] GSIH is just that, "Getting Started". overall, GSIH is no comparison to Internet Texas Holdem. i find that most folks on these forums will be partial to GSIH just because it's a 2+2 book. i recommend ITM. leave GSIH out of the mix unless you're an alien from the planet of: [ QUOTE ] nothing else needs to be said. Otherwise I'd have thought HOH would be the way to go, with TOP being the 3rd book on the list, no? Albert |

Re: ITH vs GSIH
I haven't read GSIH but anything by twoplustwo is going to be good. And no, I'm not brain-washed -- I've just read enough books to form this opinion. I also think ITH is an excellent book. I highly recommend it -- BUT -- seach for the discussion thread from about ITH that took place on this board (I think last summer.) Miller, Sklansky, and Mason point out some flaws that you'll want to know about regarding ITH.

Re: ITH vs GSIH
I don’t think it’s useful to compare the two. GSIH is a general introduction aimed at beginners, while ITH is a more advanced and complete coverage of limit.
Also arguably the best part of GSIH is the No Limit section while ITH is limit only. |
