Default Another Interesting Hand: CA B&M Mid-Limit

I was up about a rack (with my usual tight image) after 2 hours when the following hand came up. Both players were previously unknown to me but they neither seems particularly good. Cutoff posts missed blind...he's been on a rush and playing quite aggressively accordingly. One middle position limp, poster checks, SB folds, and I am in BB with A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. I rap the table and 3 of us see a flop of:
A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
I check (with the intention of raising), limper and poster both check. Turn is 2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. I check (with the intention of raising only if limper bets and poster calls but otherwise pulling out a large stack of chips and then just calling...the preferred way to call with a flush draw without proper odds by the fish in these games). Both limper and cutoff check along. The river is 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. I bet, limper folds, poster calls. What do you guys think?

I think your flop plan is ok, but once that whiffs I'd just go ahead and bet the turn.

I like the turn play. Its almost like you are making up for the check around on the flop. If nobody picks up a draw they dont call the turn anyway. Also by checking if someone happens to have a draw but checks behind you only lose one big bet on the river if they hit, but if they bet which they will most of the time you will pick up an extra bet almost as if they are paying off a river bet with a missed flush draw (is this confusing?). I.e. If you bet the turn and they pick up a draw and only call you miss the river bet if they dont hit.

i like the plan on the flop... i would usually bet the turn, but i can see an argument being made for checking the turn since the board has no draws, and you might induce a bluff or "value bet" from an 8

The flop is just too ragged to expect any calls on the flop. Going for the C/R sounds like the only way to get any more bets in this little orphan pot.

I would just bet the turn and expect to pick up the pot. On a good day, some bad player will decide to look you up with something like a small pair.

edit: Please take no offense, but I don't think this was really an interesting hand.

Thanks for your honesty tessarji. At the time I thought this was an extremely interesting hand because it was one of the few times I ever "slowplayed" top pair in a 3-way pot all the way to the river. I checked the turn to encourage a hopeless hand to bet or even a flush draw to bet since the pot was so small but there is something to be said for my betting to add a bit of legitimacy for when I bet in this spot on a stone bluff. BTW- given these players, I think any pair and any draw would have bet this flop so I think we know that nobody has much of anything (or there is some tiny chance they are slowplaying a monster like 22).

Exactly. I fire at a lot of wee pots like this on the turn. I don't even mind getting caught on occasion, since it helps shake that tight image that you mentioned.

I like for players behind me to feel like I try to steal everything that isn't nailed down, true or not, so I can get calls in itsy pots when they are mostly DD.

Welcome to the Mid-Limit forum.

If you post a hand and don't get any replies after 24 hours (or 12 if you really can't wait), just bump it once. If you still don't get any replies, it usually means that the hand is just that uninteresting. But usually someone will post just to say, "This hand is not interesting" or "You played it fine."

And be careful in this forum. There are a lot of people who simply have no idea what they're doing.
