Default Hall of Fame

I'm surprised there is hasn't been any discussion about this yet. Anyway, ESPN listed the 40 current major leaguers most likely to make the Hall of Fame. The first 20 are considered pretty much locks, and the second 20 are more speculation. If you want to see the actual articles, they are here:

3. Greg Maddux

5. John Smoltz
6. Randy Johnson

OUT: Mike Mussina
8. Derek Jeter
9. Alex Rodriguez
10. Albert Pujols
11. Vladimir Guerrero
12. Miguel Cabrera
13. Ken Griffey Jr.
14. Manny Ramirez
15. Sammy Sosa

I read the article. Some of it is OK, but a lot is a f'ing joke. Having Cabrera ahead of guys like Palmeiro, Bagwell, Griffey, Ramirez, ect. is BS. Then he has players like David Wright and Joe Mauer on the list. Personally, I think a player needs at least 5 years of service before anyone can begin to mention having a shot of being in the Hall of Fame.
Derek Jeter is one of my favorite players, but there is no way he gets in before A-Rod.

I disagree. As much as I think A-Rod deserves it more, Jeter will likely only be behind Clemens on this list. He is every journalists favorite, Mr. Clutch, and had like 4 WS rings on his hand in his first 4 years. I still hate him, but this is exactly what the voters like to see.

That's because there have been. Every 3 months or so we have a "what active players will be in the HoF" thread.

That's if both careers ended now. By the time all is said and done, A-Rod could have 700+ HR's, 2000+ runs, 2,000+ RBI's and 3,000+ hits. I have a feeling A-Rod will retire as a top 5 player of all time. That's of course if he stays healthy.

I still cannot believe that there are people with a baseball IQ above 'retarded' who consider Frank Thomas to only be a 'fringe' Hall Of Famer.
