Hall of Fame
I'm surprised there is hasn't been any discussion about this yet. Anyway, ESPN listed the 40 current major leaguers most likely to make the Hall of Fame. The first 20 are considered pretty much locks, and the second 20 are more speculation. If you want to see the actual articles, they are here:
1-20 21-40 1. Roger Clemens 2. Barry Bonds 3. Greg Maddux 4. Tom Glavine 5. John Smoltz 6. Randy Johnson 7. Mariano Rivera OUT: Mike Mussina 8. Derek Jeter 9. Alex Rodriguez 10. Albert Pujols 11. Vladimir Guerrero 12. Miguel Cabrera 13. Ken Griffey Jr. 14. Manny Ramirez 15. Sammy Sosa OUT: Bernie Williams, Juan Gonzalez, Larry Walker 16. Miguel Tejada OUT: Nomar Garciaparra 17. Mike Piazza 18. Ivan Rodriguez 19. Craig Biggio 20. Jeff Bagwell 21. Pedro Martinez 22. Curt Schilling OUT: Kevin Brown 23. Mark Prior 24. Roy Oswalt 25. Gary Sheffield 26. Frank Thomas 27. Rafael Palmeiro OUT: Jim Thome and Carlos Delgado 28. Ichiro Suzuki 29. Andruw Jones OUT: Jim Edmonds 30. David Wright 31. Hank Blalock OUT: Scott Rolen and Chipper Jones 32. Jeff Kent 33. Trevor Hoffman 34. Francisco Rodriguez OUT: John Franco, Eric Gagne, Braden Looper 35. Adam Dunn OUT: Bobby Abreu 36. Johnny Damon OUT: David Ortiz, Jason Varitek, Trot Nixon, Bill Mueller, Mark Bellhorn OUT: Garret Anderson 37. Johan Santana 38. Joe Mauer OUT: Alfonso Soriano and Mark Teixeira 39. Omar Vizquel 40. Re: Hall of Fame
I read the article. Some of it is OK, but a lot is a f'ing joke. Having Cabrera ahead of guys like Palmeiro, Bagwell, Griffey, Ramirez, ect. is BS. Then he has players like David Wright and Joe Mauer on the list. Personally, I think a player needs at least 5 years of service before anyone can begin to mention having a shot of being in the Hall of Fame.
Derek Jeter is one of my favorite players, but there is no way he gets in before A-Rod. |

As much as I think A-Rod deserves it more, Jeter will likely only be behind Clemens on this list. He is every journalists favorite, Mr. Clutch, and had like 4 WS rings on his hand in his first 4 years. I still hate him, but this is exactly what the voters like to see. |

I have a feeling A-Rod will retire as a top 5 player of all time. That's of course if he stays healthy. |

Re: Hall of Fame
I still cannot believe that there are people with a baseball IQ above 'retarded' who consider Frank Thomas to only be a 'fringe' Hall Of Famer.
