As I was reading books and talking to other players, I thought everyone overrated position. Now that I have been playing a lot the last few months,I am really seeing how important it is. Here is a perfect example:
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.10 BB (8 handed) converter MP1 ($4.85) MP2 ($8.25) CO ($5.55) Hero ($7.40) SB ($6.10) BB ($13.35) UTG ($8.25) UTG+1 :#A500AF(Villain)/ ($5.85) Preflop: Hero is Button with J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. 1 fold, UTG+1 :#A500AF(Villain)/ calls $0.10, MP1 calls $0.10, 1 fold, CO calls $0.10, Hero raises to $0.8, 2 folds, UTG+1 :#A500AF(Villain)/ calls $0.70, MP1 folds, CO folds. Flop: ($1.95) A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) Villain checks, Hero bets $1.3, Villain folds. Villain: That was a bad flop for QQ lol Final Pot: $3.25 I didn't say a word. |

This hand has nothing to do with position.

I would say that the Ace and King flopping had just a liiiiiiiitle bit more influence on Villain folding.

I never bet JJ with an A and K on the board if he doesn't check to me. If I have to act first, I check fold and he takes the pot. Isn't that what position is?

I think that result happens because of your playing style, not position. Queens gave up without a fight here. If you would've let into them with the Jacks, I'm sure they'd still fold.

Did you see Tommy and Clarkmeister's comic 'How to play pokah'?

Of course it depends on the player and the situation. In this situation, I know that nobody at Stars $10NL is going to call a relatively large preflop raise without a premium holding, 99-AA, AJ and above, KQs. It's not optimal to bet when you know you're behind much more often than you're ahead and the opposition won't fold. Most of the time the opponent has an ace. If I was in a looser game, it'd be different.
