Same 10/20 full ring
Hero is UTG+3 with 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Don't have many hands on MP2, but he seems loose, with average aggression. In general the game is very loose and passive preflop, so: 2 folds, Hero limps, 1 fold, MP2 raises, 4 folds, BB calls, Hero calls. Flop (3 players, 6.5SB): 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] BB checks, Hero checks, MP2 bets, BB folds, Hero calls. Turn: 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Hero bets, MP2 raises, Hero folds. My thinking on the turn was that he was loose enough to call down if my donk-bet scared him at all. Therefore if I'm ahead, I make more than check/calling, since he'll check behind on the river. If I'm behind I can fold to a raise, so I lose the min. And I did. But then I thought.. Can I fold to a raise? Perhaps my donkbet looked weak to him, so he decided to make a move and I folded the best hand. I'm not convinced it was a bad play, but I'd like to hear opinions. |

Uhh....did you actually open limp with 89s after 2 folds? There's your first big problem.

I agree it was marginal, and with more folds in front of me I wouldn't do it. But at this loose, generally passive table, it seemed good. (If you still disagree though, I'm listening.) I guess you have to trust me that this hand wasn't indicitive of the standard preflop action.. |

Preflop whatever, do as you wish, but on the turn you probably folded with 10 outs.

I understand that the table was generally loose and passive, but that doesn't mean every hand is like that. After 2 folds, open-limping with anything isn't that great, but exceptions can be made for a loose, passive table. However, 98s isn't good enough in this spot. It's pretty to look at, but you're really going to do a lot better with it when you have position and there are already limpers in the pot.

It's looking more and more clear that check/call on the turn, bet/fold unimproved, bet/call improved on the river is the line. My fold was most probably a mistake, and if I bet and have to call, I'm just throwing away money when I'm behind without gaining when I'm ahead. |

You have to bet the turn, as far as you knew that that point he could have had AKo. You have to call the turn when he raised discounting the flush outs as AoAs AsKs etc are very possible.
