AK: I think I only screwed up the river.
Do you agree? Is the check justifiable?
Villain seems loose and aggressive; only been at the table for half an hour, but plays over one third of the pots (but less than half) and raises about a quarter of them. Re: AK: I think I only screwed up the river.
Raise more PF, raise more on the flop, call down after turn if he's still in and still bets into you on the turn.
Edit: this means don't raise the turn, in case i didn't make that clear. |

Push turn, you arent folding to a river bet here

I don't think I'd raise again after villain leads the turn despite getting raised on the flop. I'd probably call and hope he underbets the river, too.

[ QUOTE ]
Push turn, you arent folding to a river bet here [/ QUOTE ] I disagree. He bets on the flop. This doesn't have to mean anything. But then he calls a raise, with only a remote straight possibility on the board. So he must have a piece of the board, and he must know that you have a strong ace. If a 6 falls on the turn, and he still bets into you, what does that mean? In my book, it means there is a possibility that you're facing a 6. Remember, this guy plays about 40% of his hands. So I think you could be up against A6, 76s, 65s here. But like I said, I would raise more PF and on the flop to make sure. If he still leads into you on the turn, I would be really worried about that 6. So I'd just call down. |

Re: AK: I think I only screwed up the river.
well, here's the question that was in my mind on the turn: when the 6 fell, he bet 9 at 36. What the devil does that mean? I read that as he has no 6--that was why I raised him again.

[/ QUOTE ] If you have a read on his betting patterns that says he doesn't have a 6: fine, raise his ass. As for betting 9 at 36, he's probably just a donk making a donkish bet. I said it a couple of times before: raise more PF and on the flop, this will make things easier on the turn. |

Re: AK: I think I only screwed up the river.
I can't lay claim to having a read on his betting pattern. Just that when that card fell, I mean that was payday for him if he had made a positional raise with A6 or was in with 6 connecting to something. I had already raised him, if the 6 had hit him, he should have POUNDED me. None of this went through my head, the bet just FELT weak. Dunno.
