Bigger field vs higher buy in

I'm wondering how people weigh the bigger buy in tourneys against the ones with bigger fields, which one's more desirable.

Say you had an infinite bankroll, and your primary concern was the ROI you got for your investor. What would you play, $100 buy ins or the 30+3/34k guaranteed? Obviously the competition at the $100 buy in is going to be a little better, and also the field smaller. So I'm wondering if people can tell me their experiances with both?
