Some questions about my 1st online deposit
So here goes - I am getting ready to enter the wild world of online poker.
I have a neteller account - but I have a few questions. Fist of all, I live in Canada - neteller says that it will charge me 1.9% for all currency conversions - will this be between my bank account and neteller or between neteller and the online site? How can I minimize these charges? Second, when I make my deposit onto the site, where should I keep my $$$ - on the site or with neteller - or should I transfer to my bank account as often as possible? Thoughts? |

Re: Some questions about my 1st online deposit
I will answer your second question, in return for some business hammocks and the Dallas Cowboys (no Denver Broncos this time).
I keep about 100 BB's in my main site and enough in Neteller on top of that to cover any promotions with limited timeframes that might come up (in my experience, this is more important for casino whoring than poker whoring). You want to limit transfers to/from your bank account, especially since there is a fee involved for you. Neteller is very safe -- I have no problem keeping a large chunk of money there. |

[/ QUOTE ] You can minimize these charges by finding someone to transfer you money in Partypoker from their account to your new account in exchange for american cash. If you live in a major city and hang out at the local casino even for a night, it should be no problem. If you are in Vancouver, I could do it, or find you someone that would. Once you have money in your account, don't withdraw untill you have enough in your poker account to keep you going at your limit. If you are a winning player and manage your bankroll properly, you will never run into any fees from Neteller. Tuco. |

Re: Some questions about my 1st online deposit
If your neteller account is in USD currency there will be no fees between neteller and poker sites.

Re: Some questions about my 1st online deposit
That's not a bad idea. I suppose I could also use a USD account - even if its at a CDN bank.
At this point, I am starting with a small bankroll and playing micro limit - so I am willing to take the hit - when I move up to the next level, I may want to rejig things. So, if I understand this correctly, what I would want is to have a neteller account that is in USD and then to keep my $$$ in neteller and to rarely transfer that money over to my CDN account. Correct? I also have an issue that I am playing on a mac, so I can't access most of the sites - right now I am basically going to use pokerroom.com more or less exclusively. |

Re: Some questions about my 1st online deposit
If you are starting as a micro player, it may be worth doing the www.instantbankroll.com deal. I did a similar one (I'm from the UK) and once I cleared it, I cashed out and played stars micros. That way, you won't need to worry about any currency charges.

Sadly, partypoker.com is not mac compatible.
