Final Pot: t2760 I was really pissed when this idiot did this. I mean does anyone seriously consider calling in this situation? I just couldn't see risking my tournament at this stage in this situation. Is this to passive? |

Re: lv2, JJ in BB Button goes all-in, what now
Personally, I just say screw it and call. I hate these phrases like "risking your tournament" and "waiting for a better spot" and "trying not to play a big pot" and whatever. I want chips. This looks like a good spot to accumulate chips. So I call.

Yes, I probably call too, especially if I read the guy as a wild player-- which is very likely.

AK or mid to low pp. Villian doesn't want post-flop play.

Re: lv2, JJ in BB Button goes all-in, what now
I think I would call too. JJ has probably got a decent chance here, depending on the type of player. If he is truly an idiot, go for it.
If I did it, he'd probably just flop an ace to get his pair, but getting angry won't help anything. Just because you've been waiting for a good hand and then choose not to play it doesn't mean you should tilt. Play the hand if you think it's good, or fold and move on to the next hand. |

[/ QUOTE ] 99% of the MTT posters would call. dont be the other 1% [ QUOTE ] I just couldn't see risking my tournament at this stage in this situation. [/ QUOTE ] Then you have a big problem. Be ready to go broke on any hand. [ QUOTE ] Is this to passive? [/ QUOTE ] Passive isnt the phrase. its weak tight. and yes it is weak tight. |

Re: lv2, JJ in BB Button goes all-in, what now
because I wanted to play the best hand I had gotten to that point is why I was pissed.
I know that there are many, many people that will go all in with AA or KK on level 1 or 2 hoping to get some idiot to call and then double up, and if they lose, well, they just started so they don't have a lot of time invested and they start another one. Why enter a pot where you are a 4 to 1 dog? |

Re: lv2, JJ in BB Button goes all-in, what now
Last night in the Pacific Trout villian two to my right was raising 3xBB every time I was in the BB. Finally w/KQo I reraise from 150 to 475. He pushed. I called. He turned over 52s.
He said "Wow that was risky calling with KQo." I said "That was risky reraising with 52" He said "They were sooooooooooooted!" I said "Perhaps my calling standards dropped a bit from your persistent raising." I got pegged as weak tight early and people kept stealing/restealing/reraising on me until I caught cards, doubled up and be came chip leader. You have to stand up to try to shake the perception that you can be run over. My bust out hand: AA got cracked by 93o when he called my EP 3xPF raise to try to make a play late in the hand to take it away from me. Flop: 949. Call with JJ. |
