$2/$5 The 2 Pair Illusion
$2/$5 6 MAX (6 Handed)
Seat 2: Villian ($423.50 in chips) Seat 4: Hero ($477 in chips) Villian in hand is new to table and not played against him before. No reads as yet. Dealt to Hero K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] PREFLOP: Villian limps, Hero raises to $20, BB calls, Villian calls. FLOP ($62) 3players: Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Hero bets $40, Villian calls $40 TURN ($142): K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Villian checks, Hero bets $115, Villian raises to $363.50 (all-in), Hero calls $248.50 RESULTS in white below <font color="white"> Villian shows down 99 to take down pot. </font> All comments appreciated. I felt like I should be folding, because I am behind to JT, 99 and 33 but I have a sort of general rule to not fold top 2 pair when I am getting better than 2-1 heads up. Is 2pair just an illusion? |

Re: $2/$5 The 2 Pair Illusion
in these situations,I don't think the K helped you and I don't think he check pushes with AQ.
so you have to ask yourself whether he will do this with a draw. if the answer is no, then fold. |

Re: $2/$5 The 2 Pair Illusion
I realized after a long time that 2pair is basically about as good as Top Pair - better than ace kicker.

Re: $2/$5 The 2 Pair Illusion
Yes, I think I still have too much willingness to call from my previous experience on the $1 table where this raise could easily be lower 2pair or just top pair. But this is not the case on the $5 table.
