If at the river, a player bets and you call and he says "you win", does he give up his claim to the pot? I was playing the 20 HE at commerce and the dealer said that if he says "you win", and you immediatly muck your cards, you win the pot. Shouldn't his cards be considered live unless he says "fold" or mucks his cards?

Would the dealer pay you the pot out of his pocket if the Floor ruled the other way?
Put it this way, I wouldn't count on a ruling going one way or the other. Hold on to your cards. |

Not where I play. People say it all the time when their hand is weak and they may be embarrassed to show it. They are leaving out the word "probably".
Saying, "You win." doesn't end the hand. Mucking your cards does. Flip your cards over and let the dealer decide. If he mutters something and mucks, then fine, you get the pot. Why get all goofy? Flip over your stupid cards and get on with the next hand. Onaflag......... |

" key his him saying" unfortunately means that you hear him say something. Doesn't mean he didn't say something different or that the dealer did not hear your opponenent. |

Something I have seen ahppen a lot is angle shooter bluffs, someone calls and say "you got me" or "you win" or whatever angle shooter turbo mucks (has nothing) and then asks for a ruling that probably goes in his favor. He asked a rules question, not for playing advice or if it was a good rule. |

The original scenario, the better/bluffer says "You got me". No, the lesson is, don't muck you hand based on what you think someone else says. A player saying "You win", or "Flush", or a dealer calling another players hand. Hold on to your hand and don't release it until you either have the pot or see you are beat. |

Your scenario, the caller says "You got me" and looses the pot? Are you kidding? [/ QUOTE ] No, this is a very standard ruling. But the other player has to react to him saying "you got me" by throwing away his hand. If both players have hands the best hand wins. If someoen "concedes" and the other player throws their hand away becasue the other player conceded they get the money. |

Explain why a caller would be conceding when he says "You got me"? He called! Probably figured the bettor drew out on him, but had to see.

Explain why a caller would be conceding when he says "You got me"? He called! Probably figured the bettor drew out on him, but had to see. [/ QUOTE ] Because it is a bad rule. It is a lot moire liekly for the bettor to say "you got me" but I have seen it the other direction and these guys that need to visit with Al Capone turbo muck and get the pot. When one of these guys turbo mucks they are on a free roll, they weren't oging to win anyway so they hope they can get the floor to award them the pot. I have never seen someone that said something along the lines of "you win" awarded the pot if the other player was able to get his cards into the muck without showing them. I have only had to rule on this point one time. In a 1-5 stud game someone obviously new to casino poker bets on the end. A regular thinks a bit and throws in a call and says "I can't beat your full house" (bettor has 2 pair showing). Bettor says "thanks" and pushes his cards into the muck. So now I get called to the table. The regular said somethign that was taken as a concession so the bettoer gets the pot; the regular was a valued customer so I made a "paid out" and paid him what was in the pot. |
