Odd Bet Amounts
I have noticed that on occasion some players like to make odd bet amounts. For instance, I play $0.50/$1 NL at PS and there was a guy who was betting amounts like $3.80 pre-flop and $5.60 post flop. I am not hinting at cheating or collusion because these types of bets would draw too much attention and I give cheaters enough credit to use IM. Just wondering if this is just someone's way to fight off boredom or maybe it's a tell I haven't thought of.

Re: Odd Bet Amounts
I don't really see how you can link odd bet amounts to collusion.
Sometimes, people may use the "bet pot" button and the pot will have an odd amount. Other people might think that by betting that amount, it looks like they put more thought into the bet or something. One of my friends does it he swears people fold more, I don't know. |

I don't really see how you can link odd bet amounts to collusion. [/ QUOTE ] $5.60 could mean he has a 5,6 offsuit. 5.61 means 5,6 suited. Or some other type code. Maybe an odd bet tells the partner to raise or fold. Maybe it means he ha a pocket pair. who knows. So I can see how it could be used to collude. Especially since PP does a screen scrape and could read the IM's. |

Re: Odd Bet Amounts
You'd be crazy to setup any type of tell to each other by betting. Someone would figure it out rather quickly I think and have a huge insight into your play.

Re: Odd Bet Amounts
Playing in a tourney in level one a guy bet $44 (big blind = $20)
Flop came AJ4. Bet $44 on the flop, he was called. $44 on the turn and was folded to him. Sure enough he showed pocket 4's, I was wondering. Sometimes people are weird like this. Some people like to play mind games I think. |

haha, this idea was good for a laugh...honestly though, i do it for fun sometimes to make a bet look huge (i.e. 4.99)

Re: Odd Bet Amounts
Again, I don't think it has anything to do with collusion, I am more interested if this is a potential tell or if I was missing something obvious. If someone thinks people are more apt to fold that kind of bet, then it could be an indication of a bluff.
