Default Question re Coaching -- Hand Review or Sweat Session

In the past I have had a poker coach (someone people here would know) help me by reviewing hand histories. This person did a great job and I found the review very useful.

Now I am considering another such review versus a sweat session in whcih this coach would watch me play online and we would chat via IM.

I am curious what people who have coaches think is a more effective coaching tool.

Thanks in advance.

Colgin

A sweat session is far more useful for me- you can discuss the hands as they occur, instead of trying to recreate your mindset, reads, etc from a hand history.

I've helped some friends just starting out by sweating them, and it works well.

A while ago I paid James282 to sweat some of my 5/10 6max sessions...I would 2 table for an hour and we'd discuss hands I played on AIM. He no longer offers coaching, so don't bother him about it. This was a terrific experience though and I would highly recommend getting this sort of coaching. I've also had the hand history sort of coaching from Joe Tall which was also great, but nothing like discussing hands in real time (I think Joe actually offers this service now, too).

I've gotten in trouble with this as far as live home games go. I have helped my friend as a "sweat session" and his play has improved a lot (he was a pretty awful player to start), but my other friends don't like this kind of help at all.

Sounds like a good idea.

What do you usually play?
Game/stakes/Cash or Tourn/Sites
