Default Wisdom from Nate Tha\' Great, pulled from Books & Publications.

Found this in the Books & Publications forum. I never thought about befre but it makes a lot of sense.

Does it reccommend 3-betting a tight UTG raiser with KJo? Jim Brier made that play against me.

One thing I discovered during the recent Vegas trips is that a lot of 2+2ers don't play nearly as tight as they post. I wonder if the same thing isn't true for Jim.

I think that is a truer statement.

I agree with this, at least from my experience. Live games tend to have a greater proportion of loose-passive and weak-tight opponents, when 3-betting light and limping loose become very effective weapons for good players.

They can't handle the decrease in hands per hour?

It's also correct strategy. Due to the texture of live games, you can loosen up your play a bit more preflop. You can limp with some hands in middle or early position that you'd fold online (such as Axs and 76s) because you can be virtually sure the pot will be multiway for one bet.

But conversely, you can also tighten up a lot post-flop because raises and 3-bets in live games often deserve much more respect than they do online due to the passivity of so many opponents.

After a couple hundred hours of live play, I was a net loser. I looked at my game pretty closely after that, and realized I was playing VERY differently live than online. I was bored by waiting an hour for a hand, hopped up by the excitement of the casino, and distracted by the waitresses.

I really focused on making changes to my game, and have turned it around. I still get distracted by the waitresses...

I also get bored very easy in a Live game. Going from 500 hands an hour to 35 is torture.

I can easily sit and play online for 6-8 hours straight but if I play in a live casino I'm leaving after a few hours or else I get bored and raise J9s UTG for the hell of it.
