Looking for a job......
Well it's about time for me to move out of bloomington. This may not be the best place for this but I figured it's worth a shot. I had a dream job lined up a while back but lost it due to federal funding cuts. So I'm back to searching. I've sent applications out to a bunch of places on the east coast.
The best search engine for jobs in boston is bostonworks.com What are the best search engines for California, general west coast, and Texas? Names of local biotech companies won't hurt either. All I know is that east coast (all of NE), west coast (Seattle, Cali, etc), and Texas are good for biotech so that's where I'm looking. Hopefully I will be meeting a lot of 2+2'ers in person soon. If it helps I have a M.S. in bioinformatics and a very good resume. |

Re: Looking for a job......
North Carolina/Raleigh-Durham is becoming much more biotech friendly as well.
I work for a Biotech company in Cambrdge, MA in the Finance area. Not real science savvy. For what type of job are you looking? Bioinformatics leads me to believe data analysis? Clinical trials or research? You may want to check the websites of specific companies. They will have more opportunities than what is posted on Boston.com. In my experience, a lot of recruitment for biotech is farmed out and you may be better contacting companies directly. |

Re: Looking for a job......
Yeah, if you want to network besides finding the search engines, I would 1) spell out exactly what you want to do and 2) the names of specific companies you are targeting if you know of any.

1) spell out exactly what you want to do and [/ QUOTE ] I'm too versatile for that. If somebody is studying the inner workings of a cell, genetic data, or anything along those lines they need someone like me. [ QUOTE ] 2) the names of specific companies you are targeting if you know of any. [/ QUOTE ] I want to move to east coast, west coast, or texas. Any university, any drug company, and any research company will do. Name a drug company and I'm probably golden. The market is kind of tight right now due to political reasons. I just need to find openings. Basically anyone needing either a bioinformatics or computational biologist. And honestly, once it's limited to computational biology, I don't care what I do. I just like to learn and it's noble work. Thanks for the help sam h I will go through the directory in that area. |

'Dream job' is an oxymoron. [/ QUOTE ] No it's not. I've had them in the past and with luck I'll have them in the future. |
