Re: Interesting spot preflop
Assuming you have a reasonable sample size to determine his stats, that looks like a spot to let it go. You're behind and you won't get much money in if you flop the best hand.

Re: Interesting spot preflop
This is a 6max table, not a full ring game. Isn't there some chance that Villain thinks you're open raising with something marginal and is on a steal? Can you really assume he'd only be raising with a premium pocket pair and not something like AQ or AJ?

Re: Interesting spot preflop
There's always "some chance" your opponent is bluffing. Are you planning to go to showdown on every hand you play for the rest of your life to make sure you can pick off those bluffs?

Re: Interesting spot preflop
No, I agree. And I agree this isn't a good spot to call and take a flop. I guess my question is, is 3 betting preflop completely out of the question here?

Given: [ QUOTE ] Villain is 21/3 rock. [/ QUOTE ] How is this interesting? [/ QUOTE ] Well, that's really what I wanted to know. I thought, for a lot of people, it would be interesting that I folded AK preflop (although unlike Fim I thought about it twice). But maybe it isn't, so I wanted to check. |

[/ QUOTE ] Yeah, I think if button is as tight post flop this just reaks of a classic reverse implied odds spot and you can't control the pot size very well. Let him have his little pot. It would be much better to have a pair or some other hand that if you hit it won't scare him out of the pot when he has something like QQ. Even then though it might be borderline due to the stacks. |

[/ QUOTE ] Oh, not like this is definitive or anything (although I think it is pretty representative) but I folded and he showed KK. |
