We hit the flush, but with 2 others on the river it seems likely one of them was on a flush draw as well and my T-high flush doesn't seem so great any more. And why is the other guy calling? So, what's the plan? (Comments on all streets welcome as well.) |

I would probably bet the pot on the flop and push the turn to shut down higher flush draws...

Re: Good news -- we hit a flush, bad news -- we hit a flush
I'd think a higher flush draw, someone hit trips and is slowplaying (if that's the case then he's got a full house), or donks calling with overcards.
Checking the river to see how the other players respond to the board wouldn't be such a bad idea. If you bet half the pot here you might be re-raised a significant amount. It's already a great sized pot in relation to the blinds so if it get's checked down and you take it I would be cool with the chips. |

Re: Good news -- we hit a flush, bad news -- we hit a flush
I would bet the pot on the flop to shut down larger draws, giving you a better chance of winning if a 3 flush hits. The pot is also so small at this point it is easy to get away from a big reraise. So you have an opportunity to bet a bit more, allowing opponents to make a huge mistake and still be able to get out for cheap, as opposed to betting slightly less and giving your opponents better odds to call.
As for the overbet on the turn, you probably have the best hand with a weak flush draw and a draw to a fullhouse. I would rather get all my money in when I am a favorite on the turn and shut down higher flush draws...if you are called, then at least you have outs and have a chance of getting stronger draws to fold. |

I think that instead of giving advice on this hand, the original poster just needs to be reassured that his hand is good here the vast majority of the time on the river and the fact that he is scared after that river is more of a leak than how he played the hand.

OK, so you are ahead here sometimes...
I bet 350 into the 710 pot leaving me with 445. UTG+2 raises to 700 (leaving him with 95). MP2 goes all-in. Now what? |

Re: Good news -- we hit a flush, bad news -- we hit a flush
The flop bet is fine but when 3 people call it, your default assumption should be that there's at least one draw and probably a big hand out somewhere. Therefore, you have to bet at least 250 on the turn (I may CR push here since somebody will hopefully bet it and nobody's putting you on a 2).
Given you got 2 calls I check the river and see what happens. This isn't a value bet situation - you may be ahead but you are losing your stack when you aren't unless you keep the pot down. |
