River play, 6-max
Second hand at the table.
Everyone is uknown to me but the Button who seems solid but it is generally too tight. Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is SB with A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. UTG calls, 2 folds, Button calls, Hero completes, BB checks. Re: River play, 6-max
Betting is a must here. You have the 2nd nuts to 63, but the BB would have raised by now if he had it. Check-raising is not an option - there's no reason to think BB will bet out if you check. You must bet!

You could be right, but don't you think he'll bet with most of the hands he'll call with?

Re: River play, 6-max
Just finished clearing the bonus at 1/2 6max. I've seen this motive again and again. You bet the flop-he calls. You bet the turn-he calls. You check the river-he bets with any kind of crap. Isn't that annoying when you have a middle pair or something?
So even if this gets checked, he will know that you are capable of checking with a big hand. And next time you will see a free showdown. Assuming he can observe this... Anyway I think he will check less times than he will bet and thus your play seems profitable. |

Re: River play, 6-max
I would definitely bet. A lot of hands will check behind here but want to see the showdown. There is even a possibility of him raising if he's been slowplaying 2 pair or a set.

[/ QUOTE ] Miles posted about this play a couple weeks ago and I immediately liked it. IMO it ought to be reserved for annoying sponges though who have been calling down your UI AK as you check/fold a river or two. I wouldn't do it against a complete unknown in this spot. |
