Just as I was feeling nice and arrogant because of a measly little winning streak, I made a profound discovery: I play worse when watching tv, doing the crossword and talking to people on the phone simultaneously.

Hope this revelation helps some of the youngsters out there.

I concur. Within the past month or so, I've made a point of telling my kids I'm about to start working, ask now if they need anything. Ditto my staff at my real job. And then I block phone calls and don't answer the door. Because otherwise, I don't play as well.
