AJs on the button.
pretty decent game. two EP players limp and one seemingly loose but mostly unknown guy riases in MP and i call on the button w/ AhJh. bb and limpers call.
flop is 4s3s5x. i have no spades. checked to the raiser who bets i raise ep limper calls pfraiser calls. As on turn checked to me i bet ep folds pfraiser calls. river is a blank. pfraiser checks i bet. -Barron |

I'm not sure which street is interesting here. The flop?

Your flop raise scares me, mainly because I play like an old woman. I like the way you played the hand, but I fear your are beat by AQ.

TSP [/ QUOTE ] interesting you think that...wouldn't the AQ want to bet the turn to prevent a flush card hitting for free (unless he had precisely the AQs) would you check behind the river? on the flop i think if i continue i have to raise. although my outs are not entirely clean, i have enough semi clean outs to continue, especially vs. a loose pf player. given im continuing a call does nothing to improve my chances to win and lets a gutter w/ pair outs call for a bet also high spades will often peel a card for 1 bet but not 2. -Barron |

Re: AJs on the button.
Its late and I've been playing all night, so my judgment might be off, but here goes.
For an unkown fellow, i dont think it would be unusual for him to check a big ace on the turn. you cold-called pf, and raised on the flop. i think it would be highly aggressive for him to lead into you with only A high, with another player in the hand, when you have shown considerable strength. I think he has the odds to try to spike a big card by checking the turn and seeing what happens. I also dont think you would get high spades out for one or two bets in this spot. That being said, I understand your concern with just calling the flop and letting all sorts of pair + gutshots in for 1 bet. I feel the flop raise is ok. I would bet the turn to make 1 card spade draws pay, but definately check the river. Interesting hand. TSP |

Re: AJs on the button.
I really hate the flop line. You CC and raise and an ugly board for AJh. I think you should bet the turn and river as you did.

RESULTS
i bet the river and he folded...
so i still think the river is the 'closest' part of the hand... i wanted to consider 3betting pf, and checking the river. river was thin indeed but quite possibly +ev -Barron |
