99 facing 3-bet
SB is 38/27/2.7 after a fair amount of hands and has been 3-betting more frequently than most.
Party Poker 10/20 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is Button with 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. 2 folds, CO calls, Hero raises, SB 3-bets, 1 fold, CO calls, Hero calls. Flop: (10 SB) K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players) SB bets, CO folds, Hero? What's the plan here? |

Re: 99 facing 3-bet
I call and raise a safe, non [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] turn card.
He may just have the A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] or, more likely, is overprotecting his small blind. |

Re: 99 facing 3-bet
Bleh I dont know. You say he's been 3-betting a lot of hands but even then this is an ugly flop for you. I don't think a fold is crazy here. You may be beat and even when you're not you're in trouble against a hand such as Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]T [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. However, if I decided to see the river with this hand I'm calling the flop and raising the turn to take a free showdown.

Re: 99 facing 3-bet
Yea I was thinking afterwards raising a safe turn was the way to go. Thanks

Re: 99 facing 3-bet
I concur. By safe turn card though I would raise any non-heart. He can't 3-bet you even if he hits an overcard, and then you can take a free showdown.

Re: 99 facing 3-bet
If he reraises the top 11.2% of hands pre flop:
{ 77+, A9s+, KTs+, QTs+, ATo+, KQo } Then on the flop we have 35% equity. Equity for some turn cards: 2h 28% Ah 15% 9h 63% Ad 12% 2d 40% Qd 27% Kd 45% On the turn, we're going to get 7:1 odds on a call and 4:1 effective odds on a calldown. I think it's reasonable to call any turn card where our equity is 25% or greater--25% instead of 20% because he probably won't always bluff the river. Our equity is pretty slim in some of these cases, but I would raise the more robust cards like Kd or 9d, even 9h. |
