Default Flush Draws

If you flop a four flush on the flop you can obviously make a lot of money if you hit. Out of the past 50 or so flush draws I've had I have probably hit 7 or 8, and when I did the payout wasn't huge, it was just mediocre.

My question is in the long term is it +EV to chase your four flush in a multiway pot? is it for shorthanded? or should you only be chasing these flushes when they are as cheap as possible and you have position?

Probably a dumb question but still have a lot to learn.

When you have a pot equity edge you best get your chips in the middle. You're 33% or so to hit your flush from flop to river so you've just been having some bad luck. Chalk it up to variance and keep on going.

I second the previous post. In small stakes games where many pots are multiway, flush draws are VERY profitable. Figure out the best way to get as much money in the pot as possible (at least on the flop) and do it. Depending on previous action and your position, that might mean betting out, raising, or check-raising. Don't be timid. You have a strong hand. Play it like one.

Edit: Ok, that's a little over-simplified. Get Ed Miller's Small Stakes Hold'em and learn to play a flush draw well. It'll pay off big in the long run.
