Default where to go and what to see in Vegas

I'll be in Vegas next Tuesday (6/28) - Saturday. My motivation is to check out the WSOP and play in some of the ring games throughout Vegas. I'm a limit player and I'll probably not play higher then 6/12 (unless I'm feeling like I'm playing a good game). On my agenda is to check out the card rooms at the MGM and The Wynn. I'll also likely go to the Orleans to play 4/8 and to eat at their Oyster Bar (I remember that place was good eats, but pretty TOMish on the poker side).

Can you recomend any other places I should go? Either for eating or playing poker. I'm sure I'll see the Bellagio and Mirage. But where else? Should I go to Excalibur?

I think I'm a better than average player with a lot to learn. I'm not very good at game selection (I seem to be too lazy or just can't quite grasp how relevant it is).

Thanks,

-DP

Hi DP,

Food: I've always enjoyed Mikado at the Mirage. Simple japanese tepanyaki place, but I still like the look of the place and the food is excellent. Not sure if you're into buffets, but I think most of the strip casinos will have a nice one. Walk across to the Rio.

Play: Excalibur smells like a dirty ashtray. 4/8 & 8/16 are at the Bellagio. 6/12 at the Mirage. I didn't get a chance to see MGM, but I'm sure the others will vouch that it's a great looking room with the limits you like.

Skip the Excalibur IMO.

MGM is great! I am not playing above 4/8 as of yet, but there was always a few 2/4 and 3/6 games going for me.
Eating (if you don't mind spenidng a bit)
Nobu at the Hard Rock
Wing Lei at the Wynn
Lawrey's on Flamingo East of the strip

excalibur is pretty soft...and MGM's poker room is very nice with decent tunes in the background. i read one complaint in this section once before, someone grew tired of hearing this over and over again, "3-2-1 let's PPPPAAAAARRRRYAAAAY!!!" same song playing =p
