That's not true. Hong Kong University publishes many good reports on all aspects of life in Hong Kong.

The CIA usually has some good info on the web (!). Search around on the web for other sites.

Heritage.org have some information about the economy. I don't know how it measures up to the sources that has already been mentioned.
