Default I was told I was a moron for the way I played this hand

Was I?

UTG is loose with a fairly normal preflop raise range. Weak postflop.
BB is looser preflop but also weak postflop.

Not being a regular at short handed, I would have bet the turn.

I think your turn check induces a bluff from a worse hand and a bet from a better hand who may have been going for a CR on the turn. Raising only puts you at risk.

It's fine. I'd fold to a river 3-bet.

ya, i forgot to mention that. Given the read, these guys arent capable of a 3bet without the near nuts so dont hesitate to muck

Do we know anything about UTG's pre-flop raising standards? I think you should bet the turn and take a free showdown UI in most cases. Depending on your read, you might also bet the river UI.

My question here is what do they call down with? If people can find a fold with marginal hands or never find a fold (ever), I fire on the turn and take the free showdown if given. If people will call down with any part of the board (but won't call down without something), I take the free turn card since ace high is not winning this hand.

The river raise is fine, though. No one has given you any reason whatsoever to think your hand is best and the BBs bet could be very well be a desperation bet to take the pot just sitting there; raise his ass (you can safely fold to a three-bet, though).

Not really - at least, not enough to have a solid opinion as to whether I'm likely behind here preflop.

I don't like a turn bet because all the cold calls and the lack of budging on the flop bet make a PP seem too likely. I figure I'm going to have to have the best hand at showdown to take the pot, something I don't think I've got on the turn. I'm also very concerned about a CR.

If "weak" means they're not checkraising you often here with hands you're drawing live to, I'm betting the turn.
