Heads up reraising on river

I was in a B&M casino playing small stakes Limit Hold'em (2/5) and during one hand I made a quad of deuces on the turn. Another player had a top set and so he made a full house (99922). The two of us and another player (looks like top pair or two pair) made it to the river (a blank). I bet, the top pair guy called, the full house guy raised, I reraised, the top pair guy folded at this point and we go heads up.

Now, the full house guy reraised me again and I know that most casinos allow unlimited reraising in heads-up situations and this one does too. So I wanted to just keep reraising the guy and just to confirm, asked the dealer and she said that since we had started the river round 3-handed, this rule did not apply and I could only call. I was obviously not too happy to miss out on the other guy's whole stack since he seemed eager to go all in as well.

Does this ruling make sense to anyone? - I can't figure out why it can possibly matter how many people start the round vs how many people are playing in the hand right now.

the street has to start heads up for unlimited raises. this is a very common rule. deal with it

Here is a quote from http://www.thepokerforum.com/generalrules.htm:

4. Unlimited raising is allowed in heads-up play. This applies any time the action becomes heads-up before the raising has been capped. Once the raising is capped on a betting round, it cannot be uncapped by a subsequent fold that leaves two players heads-up.

in my case raising was not capped before it became HU so I suppose unlimited raising should have been allowed.

Like it was stated earlier: It's room dependent. Every casino I've played in requires the street to start HU to allow unlimited rasining. It doesn't matter what the rules on some web site say, it only matters what the rules at the casino are. Deal with it. Like the other guy said, next time you may be the FH guy and will be happy about it.

That's the rule everywhere I've played. No cap heads up if that betting round starts heads up. So, the dealer was correct here.

Some rooms have it the way you're thinking (HU when what would otherwise be the cap is put in). Some rooms have it having to be HU at the start of the round. You really should know which before playing because it does make a difference once in a great while.
