Re: Check my specs
Dell sucks, learn to build your own, it's not that difficult. Dell purchases cheap components in bulk and then undercuts all the competition and shuttles all their support off to India.
Well, at least you aren't considering an HP or Compaq, but still, Dell is not the computer you're looking for. |

If I don't have to put any time or effort into it, then I'm happy. I used to build PCs when I was a teenager. Now I don't feel the need to. I also used to run Linux. Now I don't. Are these specs okay for eventual 8-tabling, running PT and GT+ and other standard applications? |

Maybe the oppurtunity costs of building his own computer is too high now.

Re: Check my specs
How can you not know these specs are good enough if you have built your own computers? And if you were a Linux user, you're considered as a seek/computer nerd.

How can you not know these specs are good enough if you have built your own computers? And if you were a Linux user, you're considered as a seek/computer nerd. [/ QUOTE ] Because I haven't built a computer in over six years. I am completely out of touch with the latest technology and what is needed to 8-table and run PT, GT+ and other applications. What I do know is that my current system isn't enough and I need a new one. I have a degree in computer science, tweaked code in Linux for my own uses, worked at IBM for a year, have two patents and I have code that is currently operating on IBM servers around the world. I got out of the field many years ago and entered mathematics although I still regularly program in C when the need arises (simple example). My interests and needs have changed and with that, my knowledge. |
