Default anything in tunica besides the casinos

Taking a trip wtih some guys down to Tunica in Aug. (second week if anyone is going to be down there) I was wondering if anyone can recommend anything on the side to blow some time between games. Good Bars or Restraunts or anything.

Nothing that I could find. Scary pawnshops, religious bookstore, hookers hanging out outside a gas station. Its really a dreadful place. The games are good though.

There's hookers at the gas station, how could this be considered a dreadful place?

Memphis is only like a half hour away...

Tunica itself has nothing.

This has been covered in many of the threads on Tunica in this forum so you can do a search.

There is pretty much ZERO in Tunica besides the casinos.

fortunately, there are enough of them to offer some variety if you are just looking to hit a bar and watch the game on TV or something.

We (my BJ dealer friends who I used to work with) like to go to Fitzgerald's sometimes and just drink late at night.
They don't even have a poker-room there...we just go there for fun and don't even gamble usually.
for a couple of my friends they like that place because they say it's the only Tunica casino that serves Guiness.

9 casinos in tunica...5 of them with poker-rooms (1 of which is completely worthless...and another one which is kind of CLOSE to worthless).
You do have SOME variety there.

There's a tittie-bar a little bit north of the casinos on Hwy 61 now.
It's right there on the county-line I believe right BEFORE you get into Tunica county (if you're coming from Memphis).
No idea if it's any good or not.
Lots of cops looking for speeders btw.

Interestingly...I believe the casinos are legal in Tunica county but no strip-clubs.
But in desoto county (just north of Tunica) the casinos have not been approved (they've talked about it) but they can have strip-clubs.

Those Mississippi moralists crack me up.

Other than the casinos (which have reasonably decent bars and restaurants) and the gas-station hookers there is an outlet-mall nearby and that's about it.
It's REALLY dead there except for the 9 casinos.

Oh yeah...there's also a couple of golf-courses and a shooting range. I always forget that because I don't really golf.

Memphis is 35-40 minutes or so away. You can hit Beale Street at night and probably you and your buddies will be doing just fine and dandy. It's kind of a poor-man's version of New Orleans Bourbon Street. not quite as crazy and wild...but still a fun stretch to hit for all your drinking and bar-hopping purposes.

The Peabody Place mall which is practically on Beale Street is pretty good.

You can also hit Graceland and/or Sun Studios and/or the Stax Museum of rock and Soul for more touristy type fun.

Are you talking about the one with the big "COUPLES WELCOME" sign out front? That is in Tennessee just north of the state line. Can't remember what it's called, and I haven't been there, either.

I didn't see the 'couples welcome' sign.

Is it in Tennessee? For some reason I thought it was farther south but I guess it would make more sense if it was just barely in Tenn.

It's the one on the right side of the rode (if you're driving south FROM Memphis) and I think they have a big spot-light now.

I remember noticing it because I have talked with a LOT of out-of-towners in Tunica (both at the poker-tables...and when I was a BJ dealer) who were looking for a titty-bar and were disappointed that there was nothing close.
One guy speculated that if you could put one across Hwy 61 in the casino area you could really clean up.
Well, obviously someone is trying to do the next best thing but putting the strip-club as close to the casinos as is legally allowed.

It is literally just feet over the state line, on the TN side.

"COLD BEER, HOT WOMEN," reads the banner out front.

So there are 9 casinos, plenty of bars, hookers and strip clubs nearby, yet you all say there is 'nothing there'. Sounds like plenty to me. What, you guys want a library or a prayer circle?!
