Re: AK and AKs early position
What about the ten other times you got a loose caller, fired at an eight-high flop & took it down w/o a peep? That's a lot more common. It's absolutely to raise AKo preflop in any position on all but the rock-tightest tables. AKs is worth the occasional limp or limp-reraise on loose tables, I think, for deception value & because it plays well multiway. Your flop play here was perfectly fine. Now that he's called, it's time to evaluate your man and decide whether he stands a profitable chance of folding to a second stab - admittedly unlikely, given the texture of the board. I probably don't play the turn or the river any different; a randomized, game-theory-type call on the end woudl only be justified if villain is hyper-agg and liable to steal against any show of weakness. Anyway, don't let occasional discomfort keep you from making the consistently correct play.
