A-K: Calling all-in (pre-flop) versus lower pair in NL tourney
I was playing in an online NL tournament. I was in the final 20 out of 80 entrants.
I held A-K from late position. 2 or 3 people limped in. I raised about 1/4 of my stack. One of the limpers from early position went all-in. The re-raiser and I had about the same amount of chips (I had slightly more), which was the average size at the time for the players in the tournament. I suspected my opponent had Q-Q or lower pair, or possibly A-J, K-J, or some similar hand. I called. My opponent turned over 9-9. His hand held up, and I lost. I'm trying to determine if I did the right thing. I'm really a beginner, and any help would be appreciated. |
