Empire wants the fish to improve so they don't go broke and quit playing poker.

I would not worry about that at all. First of all very few people will admit they are actually bad players. Or that poker is a game of skill. A lot of them play for relaxation, and expect to lose. People are lazy in general and will not bother to learn.

I like poker, but I have a small budget so I primarily play the .5/1 limit tables. After learning the hard way (by losing $150) I've started winning very consistantly. I average a little over $1.50 an hour, and my question is this... I remember in Rounders Matt Damon's character says your goal is to win one big bet an hour (so $1 in my case)...

lol, i love it when they use rounders as their basis for all poker knowledge

im not too worried about this site

If you post the big blind and everyone call I see some players, even good ones, that fold even though they have the possibility to check.
Isn't it better to just check? You never know what comes up on the flop.
Is there a reason for why one should fold in such a situation? I see none, so please enlighten me someone...

Hello Fonde,

I'm not a pro just something I have learned playing on Empire.

You will lose more than win playing hands where you are dominated preflop. It is better to fold than check sometimes to avoid being caught with the second best hand. Never get in the ring unless your willing to be knocked out.

See you on the felt,
Sarge
