Default Stuff learned from ESPNEWS interview with Lederer today

-Lederer once had a chess rating of around 2150

-Lederer just finished playing in a tournament in Louisiana where he finished 12th. The tournament will have coverage on ESPN, apparantly

-Lederer talked of how the game is changing and 21-23 year olds are learning in 1 year what took him 5-10 years

-Lederer spoke of being very unhappy that he was knocked out in 3rd of the TOC, but said that the real tragedy would have been if Annie lost to Phil.

That's the WSOP Tournament Circuit. Its a series of events that will air on ESPN before they show episodes of the actual WSOP.

someone should have asked him about the heads up on nbc... what it felt like to see esfandiari get all the pub after howard had him all in for his life 4 times in round one... howard would beat him 8 of 10 times...

He said that what happened in that heads up match was brutal!!

On another Lederer note, some interesting stuff in Professor, Banker and Suicide King book. Man those guys are action junkies. I love the prop bet where Ted Forrest bet Huck Seed and Lederer 50k that their weights couldn't cross for one year! Huck wanted to bulk up and Lederer wanted to lose. I don't think they won that one!! lol

Yeah....I knew Lederer was really good at chess...and indeed 2150 is nothing to sneeze at. But for some reason I would have thought his rating was a little higher than that.

2+2'ers with a higher chess rating than Howard lederer (I'm guessing):
TimM
Curtains
Dynasty

My rating is around 1400 which means I kinda suck.

The tournament he is referring to was the WSOP-circuit event in New Orleans.
A few 2+2'ers posted trip reports on a prelim event or two in the WPT or MTT forum (forget which).

The new orleans event will be shown on ESPN along with the other circuit events in a couple of months. It might just be final-table coverage of each of those though, not sure.
