I really like your postflop play.

I don't really like steal raising against a 40/25/2 bb with 97o, however.

That's what my first thought was. It seems he's just way too loose to try and steal here.

Eh? 40% VPIP isn't really that loose.

It's quite a bit looser than optimal. Regardless, people tend to over-defend in the 10/20 game.

Edit: It's not so much that he is loose, but he is aggressive and likely to defend and play back with a very wide range of hands. You really need high card power when stealing against these guys.

Maybe I overvalue position? The lower range of what I'm raising here is 65s and 75o.

I think 75o is a definite longterm loser. 97 is fine and you played it well post.

My stealing depends largely upon the blinds. Against guys who will defend a lot and play unpredictably postflop I'll need a few big cards or a decent pair. Stuff like 89s I'm raising too. I'll open up against opponents who fold more or play very predictably postflop.

What's your att. to steal %? Mine used to be in the 40's, but recently I've decided to cut back on stealing as much and I'm down to 35.62
