Viewsonic VP201b?
How is this LCD compared to the Dell 2001FP? I've been doing some research on it and this monitor is getting some great reviews. It looks to be a little more expensive than the 2001FP. Has anyone had experience with both of these LCDs? Is the Viewsonic worth the extra money?
Thanks, Ian |

Re: Viewsonic VP201b?
I just read that the Dell and Viewsonic models both use the same LG/Phillips panel..is this true? So the only difference between these two is the bezel/stand/brand name?

Re: Viewsonic VP201b?
I got the Viewsonic for Christmas and it has been excellent. No dead pixels at all. I cannot speak for the Dell but this monitor kicks ass.

Re: Viewsonic VP201b?
I also own the VP201b. Great monitor. I have heard a couple conflicting reports about the VP201b and the 2001FP using the same panel.

Re: Viewsonic VP201b?
You'll have to pry my 2001fp, well all 3 of them out of my cold dead hands.
That should give you an idea. |

Re: Viewsonic VP201b?
Dual VP201s user here. VP201s is the same as the VP201b but the frame is silver, not black.
It is not the same as the Dell. The difference is in the response time. VP201 is 16ms and the Dell is 24. This will only be an issue when using the display for watching DVD's or playing games. With a response time over 20ms some ghosting may be visible on quick moving objects. The main weakness in the otherwise great VP201 is the 400:1 contrast ratio. Put it next to a 700:1 monitor and there is a noticeable difference in clarity. However, the higher contrast LCDs won't, AFAIK, do 1600x1200. |

Re: Viewsonic VP201b?
The response time for the Dell 2001FP is listed everywhere as 16ms.
