What if he raises the turn with a smaller pair or A high with the intention of checking the river? He might try to get me off a small-mid pair or A high....

What about checkraising the turn? You can certainly fold to a 3bet. If you're called I think you bet the river.

doesnt checkraising the turn cost just as much as calling down but lose you the opportunity to go to showdown? If he calls the raise and bets the river it costs you one more bet than it would if you were to just call down the turn and the river. You could fold to the river bet, but it costs you just as much as calling down, except you lose the benefit of seeing his hand.

This would be my play. On the turn the pot size is only 4BBs. Raising the turn will just cost you more if you are behind, and you won't know what he's holding either if he 3-bets you. He could easily have a KQ, KJs, TT, or a 99 after cold-calling in middle position. Inducing him to bet in a small pot when you are ahead gives you a better defensive play, if you are ahead then you win 2BBs from him instead of letting go of the entire pot if he 3bets your raise on the turn.

It depends too on who's betting. If this person is overly aggressive after the flop with just an A high or a small pair even when an overcard hits I might raise but calling sounds more profitable. Some players will automatically value bet AQ in this situation as well hoping that you fold.

My read is he might have a pair bigger than yours, he didn't raise your bet fearing that you might have a K since you did raise in MP. He could have a K as well but I think he would have raised in this position, unless he's real passive or weak. He could be bluffing on this flop all the way as well with hands like AJ, AQ, or any smaller pairs like 66 and 77.

Whats the results?

He had A3 of spades so I took it down when he missed his backdoor flush draw....

Bet the turn, fold to a raise. Its by far your best option.

Then if I bet the turn and he just calls is my plan to check call any river or do I bet out again?

you check on turn, indicating that you do not have [censored]. YOu're begging an Ace high to bet into you, not to mention anyone with enough balls to take a stab at you bluffing.

You're considering folding? Umm yeah
