No-limit blind structures
Why is it that there are so many slightly different NL blind structures? For example, there are a lot of 2/4 blind games online but many live games use s 2/5 structure instead (not all-- Mandalay Bay in Vegas and Foxwoods in CT both have 2/4 blind games). The Greektown casino in Detroit has a 2/2/5 game where the extra $2 blind is on the button. Also, there are some places that have 10/20 blind games and others that prefer a 10/25 structure.
I'm not asking what playing adjustments need to be made for these variants; I'm just curious as to why they exist at all. Does anybody know? |

Re: No-limit blind structures
why i'd guess B&M's prefer 2/5: it encourages use of red chips. that way, there're less chips on the table. in 2/4 online, pf raises are usually to 12 or 16, right? that's cool for online play, but in real life it would mean lots of white on the table, which is a hassle for casinos.
the end. i guess a lot of the variations are similar in intent. |

Re: No-limit blind structures
NL games are usually 1/2, 2/5 and 5/10. Limit games are usually 2/4, 3/6, 4/8 and 6/12.
That way it's easy to know which game is which--at least at B&M's. |
