Verbal Allin Rule
When you bet, you put your chips forward, unless you go allin. It seems like this can create confusion.
I was at a final table of a daily tournament six handed. 2nd position goes allin for about 11 x BB. The button then goes allin for about 14 x BB. Button says he didn't realize 2nd position was allin and thought he was pushing at the shorter stacks in the blinds. Everyone else heard first allin. Floorman of course says allin stands. Button says he night have called anyway but would have had a close decision. First allin with AKo beats second allin with ATs. I know Doyle Brunson busted out in a similar way with about 50th place in last years WSOP. Brunson pushed with TT. The button didn't hear and said raise with A7o, thinking he was raising the blinds. The raise stood and an ace hit. |
