I won\'t join you on the anti-slowplay bandwagon
Slowplaying still has its place in $3/$6.

You missed bets on the flop.

Re: I won\'t join you on the anti-slowplay bandwagon
I disagree. If he had raised on the flop, there is a strong possibility that UTG would have folded instead of calling, thereby costing 1 bet over calling alone with UTG. Also, BB might have folded. By slowing down a bit, BB and UTG stayed in and ended up all in.
Raising Flop (assuming BB folds): UTG: 0 bets BB: 0 bets UTG+1: 2 bets Calling Flop: UTG: 1 bet BB: 1 bet UTG+1: 1 bet That's a one-bet gain on the flop alone. Not to mention the gains on the turn. While it's true that BB may not have folded, the show of strength may have also reduced the chances of BB and UTG+1 calling on the turn. I think it was well played. |

You missed bets on the flop. [/ QUOTE ] Not net of what I made on the turn. UTG doesn't go along for the ride if I raise the flop. BB doesn't raise the turn if I raise the flop. I think this is a good slowplay. Thoughts from others? |

Re: I won\'t join you on the anti-slowplay bandwagon
I raise preflop on the button with A8s against limpers.
Other than that, I dont really see where u missed any bets, especially on the flop with your position...a raise here only shuts out the field, you have a monster hand and there is nothing to worry about. Besides Preflop, NH. |

Re: I won\'t join you on the anti-slowplay bandwagon
I agree that there is a bit too much of an anti-slowplay bias on this forum, but I'm strongly against slowplaying trips. It's just not as strong a hand as, say, a set or straight or made flush.
Think how stupid you'd feel if UTG had QJ or 65 and hit a T or 7 on the turn. A flop raise would knock him out because he'd be priced off his gutshot. Another good reason for fastplaying is you might get a 3-bet from UTG+1 if he wants to jam an OESD. Good job filling up on the turn, though. |

[/ QUOTE ] Heres the way I play it almost everytime: PF:raise FLOP: bet/raise Going with OPs line and the other poster on missed bets (if u were to take the passive approach), i dont think OP missed any bets. True he lets a OJ or any open ended take a stab for cheap...I was just pointing out that he didnt miss any bets at all. But the line totally changes, the way I play it...I raise preflop and bet the flop...I dont think I have an opportunity to raise it with my play. If I bet and it gets raised and the field calls, I probably re-raise it and lead the turn. Thats how I play it...but taking the passive approach he probably got the most bets out of it that any passive move could do. Im more for aggression, but I stated that in my first post. |
