comparing chips
I'm contemplating buying a nice set of chips, but I'm trying to figure out which style of chip to buy.
I just recieved 20 sample chips of the egyptian style chips, and they are very nice! I really like the feel and sound, but they still do seem a little "clanky". I think I would like to order some clay style sample chips, but I don't know which style or from where I should order. Any suggestions? |

Re: comparing chips
Heh. There are two kinds of Egyptians out, ceramic and then clay. (TenP just makes more and more chips in his spare time...) Which kind did you get?
-Sam EDIT: Just realized that maybe the newest haven't come-out yet. I don't know. |

Re: comparing chips
I advise you try some of the faux clay dice chips too - just for comparison - so much cheaper then clay but feel nearly the same -
there's my thread on them for starters - also some on chiptalk.net - http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...14&fpart=1 RB |

Re: comparing chips
When you get your clays make sure you clang them all together to simulate extensive use. If your anything like me your going to dislike them right away when they get all dirty and grimey. Clays feel the best to me and I would of loved to have owned some of them but settled on the chipco world series of poker replicas and couldn't be more happier. To each his own though, just thought I'd offer my two cents.

Re: comparing chips
i recommend the jb paulsons, trademark paulsons, the faux clays with labels (if you want to go cheap), or Nevada Jacks skulls if you decide to go ceramic.
good luck. PM me or go to www.chiptalk.net if you'd like to hear more. p.s.: i'm not a seller of chips. |

Re: comparing chips
If you like the Egyptian ceramics and are thinking of clays, that probably means you're into "the good stuff" and willing to spend a few bucks for real casino-quality chips.
If so, then check this out: http://chiptalk.net/forum/cms_view_article.php?aid=25 Get samples, of course. With clay samples you'll need to play around with them for a while, especially shuffling if you do that. |

Re: comparing chips
Check out this site. Great info and reviews on many different chips.
http://www.homepokertourney.com/chips_review.htm The site has alot of great home poker info in general. I have a sample of Nevad Jack Desert Sands style (ceramic, very similar to Chipco). They aren't bad, little rougher texture than chipco, which feels ok, but seems to trap dirt a little more. |
