Default Structure for Home tourny

I need to know a good structure(starting chips, starting blinds, blind time levels) for a 100$ buy in tourny with 40-50 people. WE want it to last 12-13 hours.

You can do whatever you want.

Set the top blinds/ante level, around the time you want it to end, to equal 5-10% of the total chips. Set the bottom, starting level equal to at least 1/120 the starting stack, or whatever you want.

Step the levels down in between, by 30% or so.

How does this looks:

Starting chips: 10,000.
Level lengths: 30 minutes
10 minute break every 2 hours.

Level 1: 50-100
Level 2: 100-200
Level 3: 150-300
Level 4: 200-400

(Break)

Level 5: 200-400 (50)
Level 6: 300-600 (50)
Level 7: 400-800 (100)
Level 8: 500-1000 (100)

(Break, color up 50 chips to 100 chips)

Level 9: 600-1200 (200)
Level 10: 800-1600 (200)
Level 11: 1000-2000 (300)
Level 12: 1200-2400 (300)

(Break, color up 100 chips to 500 chips)

Level 13: 1500-3000 (500)
Level 14: 2000-4000 (500)
Level 15: 3000-6000 (1000)
Level 16: 4000-8000 (1000)

(Break)

Level 17: 5000-10000 (2000) Last level

Also im trying to figure out how many chips i need.
im starting with:
6-1000 Black
5-500 Blue
10-100 Red
10-50 White

So for the beggining i need 500 reds for 50 players. The worst case scenario would be that i need 272 for color up right? That would be if everyone is still in and had an odd number of white chips(i know this is very unlickley but i just want to know if i calculated this right). Thanks

We start with $200.00 in tournament chips. Blinds run for 20 minutes. Go from 1/2, 2/4, 3/6, 4/8, 5/10, 6/12, 7/14, 8/16, 9/18, 10/20(remove white), 15/30, 20/40, 25/50, 30/60, 35/70, 40/80, 45/90, 50/100(remove red), 60/120, 70/140, 80/160, 90/180, 100/200(remove blue), 125/250, 150/300, 175/350, 200/400, 250/300, 300/600, 400/800, 500/1,000. We cap the blinds at Big Blind 10% of total chips in play. When we get to the final tabel(9 players) we raise the blind every full rotation around the table. 40 player tourney lasts about 10 hrs. 50 player tourney lasts about 12 hrs.

You don't have to color up to just the next higher chip. Take the lowest chips and some of the higher ones and replace with blues and blacks for the bigger stacks who don't need as many lower chips.

Also, you can do this with three colors (or make a T10000 chip as well for a fourth color):
T2000 Black
T500 Blue
T50 White

That's if you like a lot of chips to stack up at the lower levels.

With the setup you have, you could make the starting stacks T15,000 or T20,000 and start at the 100/200 level, then drop the T50 chips and change any antes as needed. To me, having single-chip/double chip values is a bit of a waste. 1:4 or 1:5 jumps would be better from a chip buying cost.

Here is what we use all the time, we have several MTTs per month with anywhere from 32 to 48 ppl - these are set for 45 minute levels and take anywhere from 10-13 hours if played out. Bump it to an hour per blind and you'll extend by two hours or so.

Starting chips: 2500
Blinds
Round SB BB Ante
1 10 20 0
2 15 30 0
3 25 50 0
4 50 100 0
5 75 150 0
6 100 200 0
7 100 200 25
8 200 400 25
9 300 600 50
10 400 800 50
11 600 1200 75
12 800 1600 75
13 1000 2000 100
14 1500 3000 150
15 2000 4000 200
16 3000 6000 300

as for amount
2 - 500
10 - 100
8 -25
20 - 5
