good raise good call

hopefully you won

I have been to 5 30 final tables and all have been EXTREMELY tight. If you are able to win while showing AKs and then have the 2nd largest stack you should be able to accumulate chips pretty well via bullying. This should enable you to get the chips needed to make a run for the top prizes.

Great advice, thanks! Unfotunately MP2 showed 88 and I ended up losing.

It took me a bit to make the call though. I was considering folding because I had a feeling it was a coinflip (as MP2 wasn't super aggressive), and the payout between each place was a meaningfull amount. This is my second final table so far at one of these big tournaments, so I'm still not used to evaluating when to fold in order to get a higher payout. I guess looking at the other stacks there though was no one about to go out, so I suppose there would be no point in folding and trying to squeeze into a higher place, right?

yeah, sorry i didn't add more input to my post

the raise is good, the call is standard.

as you can see all the money is in the top 4, the top 3 specifically.

you're going to have to gamble to make it high in that money and squeezing through the final table by folding ace king suited is not a good way to start

With the way Party pays its tournies I try to:

1) Make the money (but not forfeit all the stealing opp. on the bubble.)
2) Aggressively try to make the final table
3) Once there place high

Now, you may be thinking everyone wants to do that, and they do, but they aren't going to do that very often if they fold AKs in situations like you describe (1.5:1 & chance to improve image for stealing), IMO.

1 place pays 150 more, 8 places pays 6000 more, ya have to take (some) risks to get there if you want to make any real money at these MTTs.

read what follows lol

If everyone thinks that way and tries to do what I try to do then why all the timidness at the bubble? Everyone WANTS to do what I wrote, not everyone plays the way needed to get what I wrote. It is not profound but most people just don't do it.
