Final Pot: t475 Would anyone here check/fold this flop instead of getting involved with a very vulnerable hand out of position? The turn was a beautiful card and I think that I should have bet more. Most players would check this river but not me. I think that in the unlikely event that he has a 2 he would have bet out on the river and since I put him on a 3 the only hand I am worried about would be A3. I also really do not expect to be pushed off of this hand by a checkraise bluff at a $30. Would you still check though? |

Re: So, about those small pockets
I wouldn't put him on the three. I wouldn't rule it out, but I certainly wouldn't put him on it. You didn't bet enough to make even decent overcards fold. I would bet the turn much harder.

I would bet the turn much harder. [/ QUOTE ]Yes. The small bet was an easy call for two overcards or a smooth call for one of the two boats. Either way you're behind. A larger bet will make the villain define his hand. Gotta force him off overcards. You didn't make a bet that would do that. |

Re: So, about those small pockets
What do you guys think of the river play? What would you guys tend to do when the ace hits? I am pretty confused about what I would do in that situation so I would not mind hearing any opinions.

Re: So, about those small pockets
as I said, at a $30 I expect most people to be playing fairly straightforward and bet out a hand that is ahead of mine rather than go for a checkraise. I think that my river bet was a very marginal play but is going to get cry called by a lot of hands that have been check called down to his point but still aren't strong enough to bet out.
Do you guys think that I just got lucky with my flop bet that got everyone to fold except for the SB, who luckily proceeded to play weak passive? And I completely agree that I played the turn too weak. |

Re: So, about those small pockets
I'm more worried about a bigger PP than the ace..
